A year after my dad graduated high school he wanted to by a new car but hadn't established any credit and was needing my grandfather to cosign for him. My dad wanted a Vega with a 454 and my grandpa told him he wouldn't sign for that death trap. My dad ended up purchasing a brand new 1974 Plymouth Barracuda with my grandpa cosigning on 9/16/1974. I was born 7/16/1978 and was the very first vehicle I rode in on the way home from the hospital after I was born, and on that drive my dad told my mom that when I turned 16 this was going to be my car. Ended up when I turned 16 I tried to get dad to give it to me but said he couldn't do that because I have 2 brothers and he didn't want to see me get hurt in it. The car set in the garage for approximately 41 years and talked him to letting me pull it out and get it restored. Dad has a couple good friends that helped the car come back to life, one friend completely rebuilt the engine while the other did a complete rotisserie restoration. 9/16/2024 50 years to the day my dad signed the Barracuda over to my name. I talked with the BMV and they let me keep the original title with my grandpa's name on it.

My son, Jamie worked wonders on a 1957 Cadillac, transforming it from a rough derelict into a pristine, white beauty. He tackled the bodywork, overhauled the engine, and breathed new life into the interior. Then, he gave it to me, his 79 year-old mom. My Caddy is not just a car; it's a labor of love and a symbol of our shared passion: cars. In June, 2024 Jamie and I took off on an unforgettable 9-day trip from Illinois to California on Old Route 66. The car performed so good and earned admiring looks the whole way. It has also earned accolades at local car shows and burnout contests. I've won several burnout competitions and taken home trophies, cash prizes, and more. I can't wait to see what the 2025 car season has in store for Jamie, my grandsons and me! It has turned out to be a real family adventure and I absolutely love it!!!
